A personal outlet I use to write and connect with people.

Originally created in 2004, oft-redesigned and developed since 2005, based on a WordPress backend, and with lots of custom CSS and widgets.

The current design espouses a deliberate effort to return to the minimalist days of 2004. In 2004, this minimalism was enforced because I didn’t have any real content yet. Things grew organically over time as I added posts, links, videos, photos and content.

Today in 2010, I’ve made a deliberate attempt to be an island of simplicity and accessibility amidst a sea of flashy and distracting websites. Tag clouds and blogrolls are out, one encompassing search box is in.

Front End

  1. Valid XHTML Transitional, valid CSS, error-free JavaScript

  2. Custom CSS

  3. Graceful degradation

  4. Cross-browser compatibility.

Server Side

  1. The technical history of the site has been documented.

  2. SEO has been added to pages that need it. Based upon hit counts between pages that have it vs those that don’t, it’s working well.

  3. Caching via ETags is used for static content like images.
